There’s a deliciously wicked tradition in the theater called farce.It goes beyond comedy into lunacy and is played with all the urgency of high drama. Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me a Tenor is the grand epitome of such farce.
Set in the fictitious world of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company where Saunders (John Remington) the besieged manager of the Opera House and Max (Austin Lightning Carrothers) his timid assistant, wait for the late-arriving Tito Merelli (Marco Caviglia) a world-famous tenor.
Through a series of mishaps, switched identities, madcap antics and many, many slamming doors, hilarity ensues.
A sensation on Broadway and in London’s West End, this screwball comedy is guaranteed to leave you laughing. Lend Me A Tenor is directed by Michael Juzwak and also stars Diana Borsshcheva, Jessie Truin, Joe Bongiorno, Stephanie Hepburn, Emily McCarthy, and is the perfect inaugural production for the newly formed TroupEnigma.
