In School & Outreach

Coordinated between educators and The CENTER's Managing and Artistic Director, Lou Trapani, this learning and performing module combines school curriculum with the dynamics of live theater. Mr. Trapani instructs students in Performing a Script, Creating a Play, and Acting on Stage, depending on the students' grade level. The program culminates in a live performance at the school in front of a live audience of parents, students, and faculty. This program is available during regular school hours and as an after-school program.

The CENTER's Education Program has developed on-site theater workshops with students at the Bulkeley Middle School (Rhinebeck), the Haviland Middle School (Hyde Park), and Bard College (Annandale).

School programs that bring schools into The CENTER include weekday Field Trip performances (listed above); serving as host-site for Daytop Preparatory School's annual performances of their Shakespearean interpretation program (www.Daytop.org); donating approximately 10% of tickets to all performances to community groups for children and adults-at-risk and in-need.

Our Education Program has also offered tours to Scout troops, in association with performances, to assist Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in earning their Theater Merit Badges.

The CENTER also reaches out to higher education in the arts through the Fiscaletti Scholarship.
