Kids & Teens On Stage Workshops

For decades our Kids on Stage and Teens on Stage programs have been providing humans ages 5-17 an opportunity to learn about stagecraft in a stress-free yet professional environment in our air-conditioned theatre.

Participants experience putting on a show from the beginning of the process (auditions) to the final live performances. No previous experience is required to take part in these workshops.

Our Kids on Stage (KOS) program introduces and reinforces stagecraft and acting skills. Participants register, learn about the play, and audition. All participants are guaranteed a role, and our directors make sure that everyone has a chance to shine! We do junior or kids versions of plays and musicals, and participants often learn choreography and/or stage combat skills. Rehearsals are after school on weekdays or during our summer camps. Past performances include Elf Jr., Mary Poppins, Jr., Romeo and Juliet, Legally Blonde, Jr., Peter Pan, and A Christmas Carol. Performances are after school or on weekend mornings.

Our Teens on Stage (TOS) program builds on the skills introduced in KOS and expands them to support maturing artists who may wish to pursue a career in acting. TOS is for ages 13-18, and those interested must audition and be cast to register. Rehearsals are on weekends and after school on weekdays, and participants are expected to be responsible with their schedules and prepared for all rehearsals. TOS usually produces full-length musicals with more mature themes. Past performances include Alice by Heart, Urinetown, bare: A Pop Opera, and Be More Chill. Performances are on weekends during our Mainstage times- Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM.

We usually have a winter and a spring KOS workshop as well as two summer camp offerings. Please check this space for future opportunities.

PRODUCTION DETAILS

Kids on Stage is excited to present the return of A Christmas Carol!

Experience the holiday classic A Christmas Carol, adapted by Lou Trapani and inspired by the story by Charles Dickens. This version is a musical and features many Christmas carols and holiday classics.

Ebenezer Scrooge loves one thing- money. But did he always? On a Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by four ghosts that warn him of his potential fate by showing him Christmases Past, Present, and Future. Will Scrooge change his miserly ways? Will Tiny Tim have a Happy Christmas? You'll have to join us to find out!

During this workshop, participants will learn and reinforce basic stagecraft and acting techniques, learn basic singing technique and choreography, and experience putting on a production from auditions to performance.

A pizza lunch at The CENTER is included for the two-show day!

Being part of a performance is a commitment. Everyone’s presence is important. Please check your schedules before signing your child up for this workshop.

*All registrations require a $30 nonrefundable deposit. Tuition is due two weeks before the workshop begins. We offer a payment plan option and a multiperson discount for family members registering at the same time.

We usually have a Fall and Winter TOS workshop. Please check back!
