About NEXT DOOR:
Something horrible has happened next door. With those children. And their parents. And the chains. So Sheila, then Helen, then Erica, Cathy, Kathy, Miranda, Patty, Julie, Linda, Allison, Martha and Bebe just stopped by to check in, drop off some comfort food, and hear how Brenda’s holding up. I mean, she couldn’t have known. Right?
NEXT DOOR is an explosive, darkly comedic, and layered (like lasagna) dissection of pseudo-feminist self-actualization rhetoric and the pleasures to be found in proximity to pain.
About Auditions:
NEXT DOOR features 13 women characters. While these roles are written as women, we also welcome auditions from non-binary actors who feel comfortable portraying these roles.
At least 6 of these roles will be cast with actors of color. We are intentionally building a cast that reflects a range of identities across the entire ensemble.
Actors can be any age, but they should all have the energy and desperation of young moms or professionals who have settled into their routines long enough that every day looks exactly the same, who are motivated by a need to insist they have made all of the right choices, and who have not been in denial long enough to be at a breaking point, but will inevitably arrive there someday.

About Definitely Human Theatre:
Definitely Human Theatre is not your average group of theatre practitioners. Our vision is of a thriving theatre scene in the Hudson Valley where artists can explore bold, uncompromising ideas while providing our community with opportunity and access to urgent, high-caliber productions. Through intensely collaborative rehearsal processes, we create unconventional, thought-provoking work that demands active engagement from both our artists and audiences in an environment that opposes conventional industry standards. We are committed to never offering a relaxing night at the theatre. (We also really love cryptids).
