SUMMER CAMP 2009 AT THE CENTER

Spend a fun summer at The CENTER! We offer exciting summer theater programs for young people age 5 through 15, and also offer summer tech training opportunities for high school students. This summer's camps include:

Little Kids on Stage, one-week camps for children ages 5 to 7
Kids on Stage Intermediate, one-week camps for children ages 7 to 10
Kids on Stage Performance, three-week camps for children ages 11 to 15.
We will also be adding new camps, including one-week Shakespeare on Stage and Stage
Combat
camps. Look for website updates with more scheduling information.

We are currently accepting registration for the following camps:

LITTLE KIDS ON STAGE (4 sessions)

A lighthearted approach to learning stagecraft. Kids will dance, sing, play games and
perform a short presentation on the last day of camp for family and friends. The theme is PIRATES!
 
Ages 5 to 7; Tuition $200.00 per child per week.

June 29 -July 3
Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

LITTLE KIDS 2:
June 29 -July 3
Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

LITTLE KIDS 3:

SHAKESPEARE FOR STAGE  (New!)

For middle and high school students

Instructor: Caitlyn Herzlinger

July 13 through July 17; Mon.-Fri. 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with presentation on Friday afternoon.

Tuition: $200.00

Re-create Shakespeare's famous characters, including kings, queens, lovers, villains and fools. Speak and understand Shakespeare's timeless language through scene development.


STAGE COMBAT (New!)

For middle and high school students

Instructor: Caitlyn Herzlinger

July 27-31; Mon.-Fri. 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuition: $200.00 includes all equipment.

This unique camp combines actorbatics, unarmed and armed combat designed specifically for the stage. Learn the tricks to safely executing slaps, kicks, punches, hair pulls and more without harming your fellow actors! 


 

KIDS ON STAGE PERFORMANCE

KIDS ON STAGE PERFORMANCE 1  - Ages 11 to 15 

Instructor: Diana diGrandi
July 6 through July 24; Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Performances Sat. July 25 AND Sat. August 1 at 11 a.m.
Production: Rip Van Winkle - Comedy. This show has great parts for boys and girls!

Tuition: $500.00

KIDS ON STAGE PERFORMANCE 2 - Ages 11 to 15 
Instructor: Lisa Lynds

July 27 through August 14; Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Performances Sat. Aug. 15 &
Sat. Aug. 22 at 11 a.m.
Production: Annie, Jr. - Musical

Tuition: $500.00 


KIDS ON STAGE INTERMEDIATE

A one-week scene study program that teaches basic stagecraft through performance and theater games. Includes a presentation to family members on Friday afternoon.
 
(4 sessions)
Each week ends with presentation on Friday
Ages 7 to 10; Tuition $200.00 per child per week.

To register, download a registration form here or call the Education Department at (845) 876-3088 ext. 12 or 13. All camps require a $50.00 non-refundable deposit per child, per camp. We cannot hold spots without a deposit.

 

For college students interested in summer theater training, we highly recommend The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. Their application deadline is early May, 2009. For more information, visit their website at  http://www.shakespearenj.org.

THE CENTER’S SCHOLARSHIP FUND
