Kids on Stage and Backstage Squad
This spring, students have the opportunity to learn every aspect of theater production, including lighting, sound, scenic art and costuming, as well as voice and acting!
Students can customize the program by choosing one or both of the following workshops:
For ages 8 to 15
February 7-March 31, 2017
Tuesday and Thursday, 4:00-6:00pm, PLUS Mon.-Fri. Tech week March 27-31
Performances April 1 and 8 at 11:00 am
Students will learn stagecraft and vocal instruction as they prepare for public performances of “How to Eat Like a Child,” a hilarious musical romp through the joys and sorrows of being a child! Young actors give the audience 23 lessons in such subjects as how to beg for a dog, how to torture your sister, how to act after being sent to your room and more. Musical written by Delia Ephron, John Forster and Judith Kahan. Directed by Lisa Lynds.
For ages 11 to 17
February 8-March 29, 2017
Wednesday afternoons, 4:00-6:00 pm, PLUS Mon.-Fri. Tech Week March 27-31
Students will learn behind-the-scenes-skills that bring a theater production to life, including lighting, sound, scenic art (props, set pieces, etc.) and costuming. Every Wednesday, a theater professional will provide specialized training to help the squad prepare for the production of “How to Eat Like a Child.” Participants must be available for shows on April 1 and 8 at 11:00 a.m.
