The Producers (8:00PM - 8:00PM)
THE PRODUCERS
Book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan Music & Lyrics by Mel Brooks July 19 – August 9, 2009 Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 3 p.m. The Producers, the smash Broadway hit, winner of a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards, will be presented by Up In One Productions. Max Bialystock, a swindling, yet oozing with charm Broadway producer, realizes he can make more money with a flop than a hit. He teams with nervous, nerdy accountant Leo Bloom, and together they search for the worst script, director and actors they can find. When they come across Springtime for Hitler: A Gay Romp with Adolf and Eva at Berchtesgaden, they think they have struck gold. Outrageously funny, as only Mel Brooks can be, The Producers will keep audiences in stitches from the overture to the finale. The original New York production opened on April 19, 2001 at the St. James Theater, with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the leading roles. It quickly became the best selling hit in Broadway history. In addition to its 12 Tony Awards, it won the Grammy for Best Musical show album. The Up In One Production is produced by Diana di Grandi, directed and choreographed by Laurie Sepe Marder, with music direction by Paul and JoAnne Schubert, the same team who brought last summer’s hit, West Side Story, to The CENTER’s stage. Tickets: $22 adults; $20 seniors and children (under 12) Advance reservations recommended Box office: (845) 876-3080 Online at: www.centerforperformingarts.org

Disney’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL August 14 – August 30, 2009 Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 3 p.m. Up In One Productions presents Disney’s run-away smash hit about the teens multitudes of audiences have come to know and love. They are universally and easily recognizable to all, whether they attended high school 10, 20, 30 years ago, or last week: the jocks, the thespians, the brainiacs, the popular, the shy. The action takes place at East High School. Basketball star Troy Bolton, whose dad is also the coach, has a secret desire to sing and act. On winter break, he meets Gabriella, who was known at her former high school as "the freaky math girl," but she also wants to sing. She transfers to a new school, Troy's school. The school "brainiacs" want Gabriella on the their math team to help win the big decathlon. Troy's basketball team, the Wildcats, want him to win the championship for them. But all Troy and Gabriella want to do is sing. Bouncy, fun and wholesome, High School Musical is the perfect, summer family fare. The Up in One Production of Disney’s High School Musical is produced by Diana di Grandi, directed and choreographed by Marcus D. Gregio, with musical direction by Elaine Miller.
